Big skies, boards on the roof and room to find your own wave.
Newgale is Pembrokeshire’s long, open surf beach: almost two miles of sand at lower tide, several access points and enough nearby instruction to work for complete beginners as well as confident surfers.

Why make the trip?
A beach that can absorb a group—but never underestimate the sea.
The huge shingle bank hides the scale of Newgale until you climb over it. At low tide the beach opens dramatically; at higher water the available sand narrows. Lessons and hire make it one of the easiest places to organise a group surf day from the barn.
01
Learn together
Choose a qualified school and let its instructors select the safest time and section of beach.
02
Split the day
Some guests can surf while others walk, use the cafés or explore the quieter southern end.
03
Watch the tide
Low-tide bays and the southern cave are not places to linger without knowing the return route.
The surf scene
Show the activity—not another empty strip of sand.
The site’s surfing guides use lifestyle photography because the appeal is the shared ritual: wetsuits on, boards under arms, first waves caught and hot drinks afterwards. Current contests and club events change, so the page links to live providers rather than inventing a permanent competition calendar.
